I just used spray paint from halfords to paint the primer and colour coats, but I used proffesional 2 part laquer. (not to be confused with 2 pak paint) laquer and hardener mixed together and sprayed using a compressor and spraygun. I have used this technique many times with great results. also, the "petrol resistant" laquer from an aerosol leaves a poor finish, and is never really petrol resistant. the proper laquer is fine when cured long enough, usually a few weeks..

I used spray on nitomors, a jet wash and good old wire brushes, it wasnt very good to be honest, but it got most of the crud off, I repainted the engine using PJ1 Satin black off ebay, the PJ1 paint is really good.

Enjoyed the whole project. The bike sounds like it should in the video....and that's good too.
Why have you decided to paint it in the K (1973) colour scheme rather than one of the M colours ?? Just curious.....
Best regards,
Rick
